Our Programs

Group Therapy

Group speech/language therapy involves conducting therapy sessions with a small group of individuals who share similar communication challenges or goals. The advantages of group therapy are that they provides social interaction among individuals who share similar goals, it provides opportunities for observational learning in a supportive environment, and it increases motivation and engagement along the way. This is great for children who are shy or who have challenges with social interactions (e.g., turn taking, conversations, active listening, social rules, etc.).

Parent/Caregiver Support Group

When a child is diagnosed with a communication disorder, it’s common for family members to experience anxiety and stress. Many families feel like they are not fully equipped to address the difficulties associated with their child’s persistent communication disorder. Sunshine Speech Therapy provides a monthly support group for families who are facing challenges that may be associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders, social communication and speech and language needs. Groups are facilitated by Speech-Language Pathologists who lead inclusive discussions on topics like; education, support, helpful strategies and resources.

Literacy

Literacy is the ability to read and write. Sunshine Speech offers literacy-based assessments and interventions that target the 5 core components of literacy: phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing.

Speech Language Camps

Speech & Language camps helps to build your child’s confidence and communication skills with peers. These camps are led by Speech-Language Pathologists and Communication Disorders Assistants, and offer structured stimulating and fun activities that help to support speech, language, literacy, and social communication needs. Camp groups are formed with children who have complimentary speech, language and developmental skills.
